Results of MRDT campaign to help victims of severe weather: Over 121 tonnes of donated goods and about 400 snow removal machines

Monday, 20 February 2012

Over 121 tonnes of products (flat and mineral water, canned food, bread, flour, rice, potatoes, blankets and other essentials) were donated and about 400 pieces of snow removal equipment were made available to authorities within the campaign started the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MRDT) for helping people stranded because of the snowfalls.

The calls for solidarity launched by the MRDT in the last two weeks were answered by representatives of the construction and tourism industries, companies, as well as ordinary people who wanted to come to the help of the people in need.

"We all, the construction industry, the tourism industry, together with the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism, this time again, have shown an exceptional gesture of solidarity with our fellow men, so hard tried this winter. I thank all those who responded promptly to our calls and donated such necessary products to the victims of the severe weather, or placed their equipment at the disposal of the authorities to help snow removal from localities. I also thank the firefighters and the representatives of county emergency inspectorates (IJSU) who helped us to transport the donated goods to the affected localities. Last but not least, I want to extend my thanks to the employees of the ministry who got involved with so much dedication in organising this campaign. It was a joint effort of all, rewarded with gratitude by the people we were able to help," said the Minister of Regional Development and Tourism. Cristian Petrescu,
