MRDT urges construction employers to make available snow removal equipment

Monday, 13 February 2012

The Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MRDT) urges the construction employers to make available the equipment they have to help snow removal in isolated localities and roads because of the heavy snowfalls.

The employers` associations are asked to call the MRDT winter command centre on the emergency phone number 0800.86.82.82 and the operators will transmit the offers for help to the intervention centers organised at the level of the county prefectures. In this way, the fleet of equipment that is not operated at present can be used to intervene in emergency cases.

"We call on behalf of the people from localities isolated and risking to remain isolated. Now, more than ever, our help, everybody`s help is needed. The equipment that stays not used today can help save lives. Under the very good relations that the ministry has with the construction employers` associations, we call for solidarity and offer them our full support to intervene in the affected areas," said the Minister of Regional Development and Tourism, Cristian Petrescu.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism already started, on Saturday, 11 February, a campaign to help people who fell victims to the snowfalls and called on the representatives of the tourism industry to donate food and essentials. The first convoy was distributed on Saturday afternoon to the victims from the locality of Sageata (Buzau county) and other aid convoys are on the road. Employers' federations, individual workers in tourism, representatives of other companies and ordinary people who want to further donate products are asked to contact the MRDT winter command centre on the emergency number 0800.86.82.82.
