The convoy was accompanied by a team of the MRDT winter command centre, headed by Minister Cristian Petrescu. The solidarity call launched by the MRDT to help the severe weather victims was immediately responded to by representatives of the tourism industry and other companies that donated food and essentials. In total, the first humanitarian convoy of the MRDT transported over 23,000 litres of water, 1,500 loaves of bread and 3 tons of cans and other food products. "I am pleased that the initiative of the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism to help people in greatest need was answered so quickly by representatives of the tourism industry and of our partners. In just a few hours, we collected dozens of tons of aid at the ministry headquarters, and donations continue to arrive. We thank all those who have showed solidarity again. We also thank the representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, who have made every effort to help us get to the localities affected by snows lately. Together, we came to help the people who, these days, fight for their lives," said the Minister of Regional Development and Tourism, Cristian Petrescu. Other aid will be sent by humanitarian convoys that will leave the following hours and days. Employers' federations, individual workers in tourism and representatives of other companies who wish to donate further products to people isolated because of the snowfalls should contact the winter headquarters of the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism at the telverde emergency toll free telephone number 0800.86.82.82. |
