At the same time, the visitors of the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid, also held last weekend, came to know the Romanian folk traditions and customs in the egg-painting workshops. Romania's stand, arranged by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MRDT), at the Les Thermalies International Fair in Paris, which took place during the period 19-22 January, was built around a new concept: health tourism, thought as a comprehensive package of services including spa treatments, anti-ageing, spa and natural treatments. The stand hosted six exhibitors, tour operators and product brands. The French and foreign visitors, specialists and tourists, received samples of mud and Romanian natural products and benefitted from body treatments made by specialists in this field. Registered on waiting lists from the very first day of the fair, dozens of visitors tested the quality and effectiveness of the procedures offered by Romanian health tourism. The fair also hosted several presentations and debates on the natural resources with therapeutic potential, on the "Ana Aslan" treatment of, as well as on the MRDT policy to re-launch medical and spa tourism on the foreign markets. In addition, the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism distributed to the interested people promotional materials on tourism destinations in our country. Several specialists from French spa resorts expressed their interest to collaborate with similar Romanian resorts and planned information visits to Romania. At the "FITUR" International Tourism Fair in Madrid, held during the period 18-22 January, cultural tours and city-break holidays in Romania were the most sought after offers at the stand set up by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism, where the exhibitors were 20 hoteliers, travel agencies and associations, local public authorities and economic operators. The egg-painting workshops were the attraction of Romania’s stand. Throughout the fair, the representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism presented the main tourism products in our country and provided promotion materials for Romanian destinations. The "Les Thermalies" International Fair in Paris, which was held during the period 19-22 January, is considered the most important spa and thalassotherapy tourism fair in France. Only at last year's edition of the salon, French tourists, but also from other countries, bought more than 800 stays on the Black Sea coasts. The "FITUR" International Tourism Fair in Madrid, during the period 18-22 January, is the most important tourism exhibition event in the Spanish market and third largest in Europe. Romania’s stands organised by the MRDT at the two international tourism fairs are financed by European funds allocated to promote our country as a tourism destination within the operation of creating a positive image of Romania by defining and promoting the national tourism brand (Regional Operational Programme 2007 – 2013, Axis 5, Key Area of Intervention 5.3 - "Promoting the tourism potential and creating the necessary infrastructure in order to increase Romania's attractiveness as a tourism destination"). |
