The project has a total value of 140 million lei and started this summer. The Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism provides the financing of the project, while the beneficiary, Voineasa Local Council, manages the awarding and monitoring of the contracts related to the project implementation. "We are talking about a resort abandoned after 1989, with an extremely important tourism potential. When we included the project in the MRDT programme of tourism infrastructure development, we considered the fact that it would contribute to the economic relaunch of the entire region. We are building, practically starting from zero, an integrated skiable domain whose further exploitation will bring benefits to the local community and to Valcea county," said Minister Elena Udrea. The current project implementation status is about 70%, and the first phase is to be completed in spring 2012, when the ski slopes will be open to the public. Later on, by the end of winter 2012-2013, the other components of the project will be finalised. The work consists in achieving four ski slopes with a total length of 9 km, equipped with a snow-making system and cable transport facilities totalling more than 5 km (chair lift - 1800 m, ski lift - 733 m and a 3-km gondola with an intermediate station). The project also provides the achievement of adjacent spaces for services, a parking lot with minimum 350 places and a mountain rescue shelter at height 1975 m. Besides the fact that the visitors will benefit from specific mountain landscapes, the resort is located in an area with weather conditions favourable to practising winter sports, with snow from October to April. In addition, access is provided by the already existing road infrastructure, namely by national road DN 7A, linking the DN1 and the Transalpina. Minister Elena Udrea’s visit at Voineasa included discussions with the prefect and with representatives of the public authorities, one of the addressed issues being the legal situation of the buildings meant for tourism managed by trade unions, now abandoned. |
