Romania participates in Berlin international tourism bourse
During the period 10-14 March 2010, Romania will participate in the 44th edition of the Berlin international tourism bourse “International Tourismus Börse (ITB)”. Romania`s stand, organised by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism, covers an area of 400 square metres and hosts about 40 Romanian exhibitors – operators in the tourism field.
According to the Master Plan for Tourism, Germany is the most important market, on which Romania should focus its promotional efforts, aimed at increasing the number of foreign tourists in Romania. Germany represents the source market for most holiday destinations. According to a survey conducted by the insurance company Europ Assistance, German tourists are less influenced by the crisis, as compared to other European tourists.
Romania has been present at the ITB with a national stand since 1970. Following Romania`s participation in last year`s edition and the Ministry`s sustained efforts, Romania reappeared in the pages of the TUI Catalogue 2010, thus marking the return of the biggest German tour operator on the Romanian market. In addition, last year, Romanian tourist offers were included in the 2010 catalogues of other major German tour operators such as Dertour, ITS and Messerschmidt.
The ITB is the largest tourism fair in the world, with an area of 160,000 sqm and 178,971 visitors, of which 110,857 are specialists. In this respect, the event confirms its importance and resonance in the national and international markets through diversity and the increase in the number of operators in the sector, still remaining an image event, which represents the showcase of the tourism offer, where the truly important products are exhibited.
Romania`s presence at the largest tourism fair in the world in terms of size and number of specialist visitors brings benefits to our country each year, being a unique opportunity to present to the whole world the cultural and tourism variety of our country. The participation in the Berlin ITB contributes to the increase of Romania`s notoriety as a tourist destination, on an external plan, and to the improvement of the country`s image in the world.
