Finalisation of project Integrated waste management system in the area of the localities on the Slănic Valley, with the transfer station in Beceni commune
The Beceni Local Council, in partnership with the Buzău County Council and the ocal councils of
Cernătesti, Bisoca, Mînzălesti, Lopătari, Sărulesti and Vintilă Vodă announce the finalisation of the project entitled "Integrated waste management system in the area of the localities on the Slănic Valley, with the transfer station in Beceni commune”, financed by the European Union under the Phare 2005 Economic and Social Cohesion Programme – the Investment scheme to support the public sector`s initiatives in priority environmental sectors.
The project is aimed at introducing a system of selective waste collection and transport in the Slănic Valley area, where there has not existed a sewage system until now, as well as a 90% reduction in the impact of waste landfills on the environment.
Expected results
- Creation of a system of selective collection and transport of waste in the area (set up a transfer station, 62 collection platforms, purchase two garbage removal trucks and 124 selective collection bins)
- Increased collection and recycling capacity (set up of a sanitation service)
- Increased level of awareness of population from the area covered by the project on waste management
- Improved waste management capacity of the local authorities
- Increased level of employment (14 new jobs created);
- Increased revenue attracted to the local budgets from collection of sanitation fees and fines
- High degree of qualification of the operating staff (14 workers trained)
- Reduced pollution.
The
implementation period of the project was November 2007 - July 2010 and the
total cost of the project is
779,326.97 euros, of which
669,382.71 euros European financing and
109,944.26 euros, the own contribution of the beneficiaries.
